2 Ft. Bragg soldiers killed in Fayetteville car crash

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Two Fort Bragg soldiers are dead after a car crash Thursday night at Yadkin Road and Cimarron Drive in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville police responded to the accident at 9:30 p.m. and found the driver of one vehicle dead on the scene.

Officials believe that a 2004 Pontiac GTO was traveling on Yadkin Road when the driver lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta.

The passengers of the Pontiac have been identified as Michael Hickey, 25, and Amber Bostian, 26. Both Hickey and Bostian were both soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg.

The driver of the Pontiac was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen, who were identified as Markita Parks, 26, and Rashaad Mitchell, 24, were also transported to CFVMC with injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. Authorities believe speed and racing could be contributing factors.
